The LAUSD PASSport stands for LAUSD’s Parent Access Support
System portal (PASSport). It is a one-‐stop online system that connects parents and guardians to important information about their child's education. It is secure...it is personalized to your child...and it is custom-‐made for YOU, our parents and guardians.
Eligibility for the Valley Environmental Academy (VEA) / School For Advanced Studies (SAS) is based on the student being identified as Gifted (GATE) or has an interest in the environment, and being the best he or she can be!
We have been contacted by many families that say they are not receiving Sunday evening phone calls from VNMS. After checking the system, it turns out that in most cases, someone has opted out of the message when the call comes in to your home or other primary line. To opt back in, call 855-502-7867 from the phone number that receives the automated calls and follow the directions.
Email is a quick, effective, and simple way to communicate with your child's teacher. Go to "Email a Teacher" on our homepage and then find the teacher's name to send an email.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is critical to the instructional budget of Van Nuys Middle School that all families complete a meal application.
Thank you in advance,
Cristina Serrano, Principal

Once in a while, we dig up a little history on Van Nuys Middle School, formerly known as Van Nuys Junior High.
This comes from Jim Leighty, a student from the 1950's.
"In 1954, the Van Nuys Junior High Amateur Radio Club applied for and received a "club station" license, with Henry Quinly as trustee. We were now K6DQD - "Doctor Quinley's Demons". The school bought us quite a nice station. And, we were front page news in the San Fernando Valley News and Green Sheet (now the Los Angeles Daily News). I'm in the picture with some good folks including Mark Weiss (K6PBI - now K6FG), Jim Forgette, Dean Cohen (WA6KYC), , Iran Ausley (K6BMD), Richard Steinmetz, Steven Bensussan, Steven (the woodshop teacher's son) and our leader Henry Quinley (W6ZFW)."
Dr. Henry Quinley became a principal in the Los Angeles Unified School District later on in his career.
