We are currently taking applications for our Valley Environmental Academy (VEA). Eligibility for the Valley Environmental Academy is based upon student achievement as measured by the California Standards Tests (CST). To qualify, students must score Proficient or Advanced on both the English Language Arts and Mathematics portion of the CST in the previous school year.
The Valley Environmental Academy is open to students outside and within our attendance area.
If you live outside of the VNMS attendance area, you will also need to fill out an Open Enrollment form for the Valley Environmental Academy.

What is AVID?
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through postsecondary that is designed to increase schoolwide learning and performance. The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional development, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.
At Van Nuys Middle School, we start the AVID program in six grade, and we are currently looking for applicants. If you would like your child enrolled, download and fill out the two attached pdf files and return to Kristin Chin in the Title I Office.

Once the attached order form has been filled out, take it to the Student Store with cash or a check. Make checks payable to Van Nuys MS.

Fall Semester 2012 Begins on August 14th. (Click Here)
Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, all Los Angeles Unified School District K-12 schools, including Van Nuys Middle School, will implement a two semester Early Start instructional calendar.
The draft calendar will be presented for Board approval on March 13th.
