Please take a few minutes today and complete the School Experience Survey that was sent home with your child. This is extremely important to the process of providing feedback to your school. Students can turn the surveys into their homeroom teachers and parents/guardians can go to Room A108 or the Attendance Office and drop it off.
The survey can also be completed online at http://achieve.lausd.net/Page/8397
First, you will need the envelope sent home with the 10 numbers printed on the survey. If you do not have the survey envelope, enter 0000 followed by the child’s 6-digit birth date with no dashes or slashes. For example, if your child was born on October 11, 2007, enter 0000101107.
Malik Jackson's story began along time ago and he achieved his goal of becoming a pro football player through hard work, focus, and a high degree of perseverance. As a student at Van Nuys Middle School, Malik was serious about his studies and was an outstanding young man. Thank you Malik for being a great example of what it takes to achieve one's goal!
Our annual candy drive is underway! We are once again featuring World's Finest Chocolate! Last day for students to win a prize by selling at least on case of chocolate is February 16th.
We are currently taking applications in preparation for the 2016-17 school year!
State law requires all students entering or advancing to the 7th grade to provide proof of a Tdap booster before the start of the school year. Students who do not have proof of Tdap immunization on file at school will not be allowed to attend school. It is important that all 6th graders take care of this requirement within the next month.
It is strongly recommended that 6th-grade students bring proof of their Tdap immunization to the school now to avoid exclusion next school year.
As an added incentive for students to get their TDap vaccination, all students with proof of their TDap booster on file will have free dress on February 29th.

To apply for the YS Plus Program, return a completed application to our site coordinator, Darlene Ku.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is critical to the instructional budget of Van Nuys Middle School that all families complete a meal application. VNMS lost close to $200,000 in the 2013-14 school year because many families did not complete a meal application.
Thank you in advance,
Cristina Serrano, Principal
