On September 8th at 9:00 a.m. we will have our sixth-grade and new-student orientation. The orientation will be held in the auditorium. Students and parents will learn more about our school, understand student expectations, and meet the teachers!

VNMS Participates In Setting New Guinness World Record!
The email below was just received by our school announcing that VNMS is part of a Guinness World Record for most people skipping rope in multiple venues. Basically, this means that 70,788 students and teachers were skipping rope at the same time in different schools throughout the State of California on February 1, 2010.
"I am pleased to announce that you (VNMS) have successfully set a new Guinness World Record for 'Most people skipping (multiple venue)'! The record for the most people skipping in multiple venues was achieved by 70,880 participants from 294 schools in an event organized by California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (CAHPERD) and Jamba Juice in California, USA, on 1 February 2010."

Sound Body Sound Mind Fitness Center @ VNMS
Van Nuys Middle School now has a state of the art fitness center on campus thanks to a Sound Body Sound Mind Foundation grant. Sound Body Sound Mind was established in 1999 by Cindy and Bill Simon, Sound Body Sound Mind is a comprehensive physical fitness program established to promote self-confidence and healthy lifestyle choices among high school students in the greater Los Angeles area.
In partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Sound Body Sound Mind provides each participating high school and middle school with state of the art exercise equipment, funding for professional development and the necessary tools to monitor student progress at each facility.
Thank you Cindy and Bill Simon for making a difference in the lives of children in the city of Los Angeles!
