Beyond-The-Bell
(after school program 2008/09)
Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office on campus. This program is provided free-of-charge to participants. LAUSD has made a commitment that all students within our district have access to safe and supervised educational, enrichment, and recreational programs that engage and inspire learning and achievement beyond the regular school day. Beyond-The-Bell Program oversees all after school enrichment activities.
The following are part of the Beyond the Bell Program at Van Nuys Middle School:
- KYDS Program: Keep Youth Doing Something (K.Y.D.S.) is a free, after-school program that runs from the close of the school day, minimum days included, until 6:00 p.m.

K.Y.D.S. offers homework tutoring, snacks, and a plethora of enrichment activities including Arts and Crafts, Cooking, Drama, Martial Arts, Lego Robotics, Dance-Dance Revolution, X-box 360 game lounge, Hip-Hop Dance, Guitar lessons, Keyboard lessons, Leadership, Computer Lab, Sports, Field Trips, and other special events throughout the year.
All participants must submit an application and sign in and out each day. Permission to walk home is allowed if noted on the application; otherwise, students must be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m. by a legal guardian.
